Juan Nazario's Boxing Career

Juan Nazario was born in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico on September 27, 1963. He made his professional debut at the age of 18 years on April 17, 1982 against Edgardo Cirino. Nazario defeated Cirino via 4 round points decision, making a successful beginning of his pro career.

Nazario got his first shot at a world title at the age of 23 after 19 professional fights. On August 11, 1987 Nazario challenged Edwin Rosario's WBA lightweight title but lost via 8th round TKO.

He became a world champion on April 4, 1990 at the age of 26 years, after by defeating Edwin Rosario, the then-reining WBA lightweight champion, via 8th round RTD. This was his 24th fight as a professional.
