Jessie Vargas' Boxing Career
Jessie Vargas was born in Los Angeles, California, U.S. on May 10, 1989. He made his professional debut at the age of 19 years on September 5, 2008 against Joel Gonzalez. Vargas defeated Gonzalez via 1st round KO, making a successful beginning of his pro career.
Vargas became a world champion at the age of 24 after 23 professional fights. He challenged Khabib Allakhverdiev for the WBA (Regular) super-lightweight title and defeated the champion via 12-round unanimous decision, winning his first world title.
He then went on to successfully win the welterweight (WBO) titles also to become a two-division world champion.
Vargas' latest fight was a 10th-round TKO loss to Liam Smith at age 32, on April 30, 2022.
