Boxing Career
Buster Douglas was born in Columbus, Ohio, U.S. on April 7, 1960. He made his professional debut at the age of 21 years on May 31, 1981 against Dan O'Malley. Douglas defeated O'Malley via 3rd round TKO, making a successful beginning of his pro career.
Douglas got his first shot at a world title at the age of 27 after 28 professional fights. On May 30, 1987 Douglas challenged Tony Tucker's IBF heavyweight title but lost via 10th round TKO.
He became a world champion on February 11, 1990 at the age of 29 years, after by defeating Mike Tyson in a clash for the vacant WBA, WBC, and IBF heavyweight champion. Douglas stopped Tyson in the 10th round of the 12-round world-title fight. This was his 36th fight as a professional.
Douglas' last fight was a 1st-round TKO victory over Andre Crowder at age 38, on February 19, 1999.
