James J. Braddock (Bulldog of Bergen) was an American professional boxer. He was a heavyweight world champion. In a career spanning 11 years, 9 months, and 8 days, Braddock amassed a record of 52-26-7, which includes 27 wins via KO. He was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame (IBHOF) in 2001.
James J. Braddock was born in Hell's Kitchen, New York, U.S. on June 7, 1905. He made his professional debut at the age of 20 years on April 13, 1926 against Al Settle. The fight ended in a draw.
Braddock became a world champion at the age of 30 after 85 professional fights. He challenged Max Baer for the The Ring heavyweight title and defeated the champion via 15-round unanimous decision, winning his first world title.
Braddock's last fight was a split decision victory over Tommy Farr at age 32, on January 21, 1938.
