Yuniel Dorticos' Boxing Career
Yuniel Dorticos was born in Havana, Cuba on March 11, 1986. He made his professional debut at the age of 23 years on August 14, 2009 against Hilario Guzman. Dorticos defeated Guzman via 4th round TKO, making a successful beginning of his pro career.
Dorticos got elevated as the WBA (Regular) cruiserweight champion at the age of 31 after 22 professional fights, and had his first world-title defense fight against Dmitry Kudryashov on September 23, 2017. He stopped Kudryashov in the 2nd of the 12-round fight.
He then went on to successfully win the IBF cruiserweight world title as well.
Dorticos' latest fight was a majority decision loss to Mairis Briedis at age 34, on September 26, 2020, in which he lost his IBF cruiserweight title.
