Jose Valenzuela was born in Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico on May 24, 1999. He made his professional debut at the age of 19 years on September 22, 2018 against Humberto Tellez. Valenzuela defeated Tellez via 4-round unanimous decision, making a successful beginning of his pro career.
Valenzuela became a world champion at the age of 25 after 15 professional fights. He challenged Isaac Cruz for the WBA super-lightweight title and defeated the champion via 12-round split decision, winning his first world title.
