Daniel Zaragoza's Boxing Career

Daniel Zaragoza was born in Mexico City, Mexico on December 11, 1957. He made his professional debut at the age of 22 years on October 17, 1980 against Mario Ernesto Gutierrez. Zaragoza defeated Gutierrez via 4th round KO, making a successful beginning of his pro career.

Zaragoza became a world champion at the age of 27 after 29 professional fights. He challenged Jorge Ramirez for the vacant WBC bantamweight title and defeated Ramirez via 7th round disqualification, winning his first world title.

He then went on to successfully win the super-bantamweight (WBC) titles also to become a two-division world champion.

Zaragoza's last fight was a unanimous decision loss to Érik Morales at age 39, on September 6, 1997, in which he lost his WBC super-bantamweight title.
