Moruti Mthalane's Boxing Career
Moruti Mthalane was born in Gauteng, South Africa on October 6, 1982. He made his professional debut at the age of 18 years on December 10, 2000 against Wiseman Mnguni. Mthalane defeated Mnguni via 3rd round KO, making a successful beginning of his pro career.
Mthalane got his first shot at a world title at the age of 26 after 24 professional fights. On November 1, 2008 Mthalane challenged Nonito Donaire's IBF flyweight title but lost via 6th round TKO.
He became a world champion on November 20, 2009 at the age of 27 years, after by defeating Julio César Miranda, the then-reining IBF flyweight champion, via 12-round unanimous decision. This was his 27th fight as a professional.
