Hekkie Budler's Boxing Career
Hekkie Budler was born in Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa on May 18, 1988. He made his professional debut at the age of 19 years on July 5, 2007 against Michael Sediane. Budler defeated Sediane via 1st round TKO, making a successful beginning of his pro career.
Budler became a world champion at the age of 25 after 25 professional fights. He challenged Karluis Diaz for the vacant WBA strawweight title and stopped Diaz in the 1st of the 12-round fight, winning his first world title.
He then went on to successfully win the light-flyweight (IBF, WBA, The Ring) titles also to become a two-division world champion.
Budler's latest fight was a 9th-round TKO loss to Kenshiro Teraji at age 35, on September 18, 2023, in which he was fighting for the WBA (Unified), WBC, and The Ring light-flyweight titles.
