Hideyuki Ohashi's Boxing Career

Hideyuki Ohashi was born in Yokohama, Kanagawa, Japan on March 8, 1965. He made his professional debut at the age of 19 years on February 12, 1985 against Masakatsu Aikata. Ohashi defeated Aikata via 1st round KO, making a successful beginning of his pro career.

Ohashi got his first shot at a world title at the age of 21 after 6 professional fights. On December 14, 1986 Ohashi challenged Jung Koo Chang's WBC light-flyweight title but lost via 5th round TKO.

He became a world champion on February 7, 1990 at the age of 24 years, after by defeating Jum Hwan Choi, the then-reining WBC strawweight champion, via 9th round KO. This was his 16th fight as a professional.

Ohashi then went on to successfully win the WBA strawweight world title as well.

Ohashi's last fight was a majority decision loss to Chana Porpaoin at age 27, on February 10, 1993, in which he lost his WBA (Regular) strawweight title.
