Chuck Wepner was born in New York, New York, USA on February 26, 1939. He made his professional debut at the age of 25 years on August 5, 1964 against George Cooper. Wepner defeated Cooper via 3rd round KO, making a successful beginning of his pro career.
Wepner got his first world-title fight at the age of 36 after 42 professional fights. On March 24, 1975 Wepner challenged Muhammad Ali's WBA and WBC heavyweight titles but lost via 15th round TKO. Wepner never got a world-title shot again.
Wepner's last fight was a unanimous decision loss to Scott Frank at age 39, on September 26, 1978.
