Brandon Ríos was born in Lubbock, Texas, U.S. on April 29, 1986. He made his professional debut at the age of 18 years on July 23, 2004 against Raul Montes. Ríos defeated Montes via 3rd round TKO, making a successful beginning of his pro career.
Ríos became a world champion at the age of 24 after 27 professional fights. He challenged Miguel Acosta for the WBA lightweight title and stopped the champion in the 10th of the 12-round fight, winning his first world title.
Ríos' last fight was a unanimous decision loss to Humberto Soto at age 32, on February 23, 2019.
