Boxing Career
Oleksandr Gvozdyk was born in Kharkiv, Ukrainian SSR, Soviet Union on April 15, 1987. He made his professional debut at the age of 26 years on April 12, 2014 against Mike Montoya. Gvozdyk defeated Montoya via 1st round KO, making a successful beginning of his pro career.
Gvozdyk became a world champion at the age of 31 after 15 professional fights. He challenged Adonis Stevenson for the WBC light-heavyweight title and stopped the champion in the 11th of the 12-round fight, winning his first world title.
Gvozdyk's last fight was a unanimous decision loss to David Benavidez at age 37, on June 15, 2024.
