Subriel Matías' Boxing Career
Subriel Matías was born in Fajardo, Puerto Rico on March 31, 1992. He made his professional debut at the age of 23 years on December 19, 2015 against Juan Rojas. Matías defeated Rojas via 1st round TKO, making a successful beginning of his pro career.
Matías became a world champion at the age of 30 after 18 professional fights. He challenged Jeremias Ponce for the vacant IBF super-lightweight title and stopped Ponce in the 5th of the 12-round fight, winning his first world title.
Matías' latest fight was a unanimous decision loss to Liam Paro at age 32, on June 15, 2024, in which he lost his IBF super-lightweight title.
