Jeffrey Mathebula's Boxing Career
Jeffrey Mathebula was born in Malamulele, South Africa on June 22, 1979. He made his professional debut at the age of 21 years on February 17, 2001 against Tally Disoloane. Mathebula defeated Disoloane via 3rd round KO, making a successful beginning of his pro career.
Mathebula got his first world-title fight at the age of 29 after 25 professional fights. On April 30, 2009 Mathebula challenged Celestino Caballero's WBA (Super) and IBF super-bantamweight titles but lost via 12-round split decision.
He became a world champion on March 24, 2012 at the age of 32 years, after by defeating Takalani Ndlovu, the then-reining IBF super-bantamweight champion, via 12-round split decision. This was his 31st fight as a professional.
