Seiya Tsutsumi was born in Kumamoto, Japan on December 24, 1995. He made his professional debut at the age of 22 years on March 27, 2018 against Alongkon Kaisi. Tsutsumi defeated Kaisi via 1st round KO, making a successful beginning of his pro career.
Tsutsumi became a world champion at the age of 28 after 13 professional fights. He challenged Takuma Inoue for the WBA bantamweight title and defeated the champion via 12-round unanimous decision, winning his first world title.
