Deejay Kriel was born in Johannesburg, South Africa on June 20, 1995. He made his professional debut at the age of 18 years on April 10, 2014 against Colin Tloubatla. Kriel lost to Tloubatla via 4 round points decision. Not a good start!
Kriel became a world champion at the age of 23 after 16 professional fights. He challenged Carlos Licona for the IBF strawweight title and stopped the champion in the final round of the 12-round fight, winning his first world title.
