Ryan Burnett was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland on May 21, 1992. He made his professional debut at the age of 21 years on May 24, 2013 against Laszlo Nemesapati. Burnett defeated Nemesapati via 1st round KO, making a successful beginning of his pro career.
Burnett became a world champion at the age of 25 after 16 professional fights. He challenged Lee Haskins for the IBF bantamweight title and defeated the champion via 12-round unanimous decision, winning his first world title.
He then went on to successfully win the WBA bantamweight world title as well.
Burnett's last fight was a 6th-round TKO victory over Jelbirt Gomera at age 26, on May 17, 2019.
