Freddie Little's Boxing Career

Freddie Little was born in Picayune, Mississippi, U.S. on April 25, 1936. He made his professional debut at the age of 20 years on April 5, 1957 against Joe Muscato. Little defeated Muscato via 1st round KO, making a successful beginning of his pro career.

Little got his first world-title fight at the age of 31 after 40 professional fights. On October 3, 1967 Little challenged Kim Ki-soo's WBA and WBC super-welterweight titles but lost via 15-round split decision.

He became a world champion on March 17, 1969 at the age of 32 years, after by defeating Stanley Hayward, the then-reining WBA and WBC super-welterweight champion, via 15-round unanimous decision. This was his 46th fight as a professional.

Little's last fight was a 6th-round RTD victory over Billy Walker at age 36, on July 6, 1972.
