Mark Johnson was born in Washington, D.C., U.S. on August 13, 1971. He made his professional debut at the age of 18 years on February 24, 1990 against Ray González. Johnson defeated González via 3rd round KO, making a successful beginning of his pro career.
Johnson became a world champion at the age of 24 after 29 professional fights. He challenged Francisco Tejedor for the vacant IBF flyweight title and stopped Tejedor in the 1st of the 12-round fight, winning his first world title.
He then went on to successfully win the super-flyweight (IBF, WBO) titles also to become a two-division world champion.
Johnson's last fight was an 8th-round KO loss to Jhonny González at age 34, on February 25, 2006.
