Leigh Wood

Leigh Wood was born in Gedling, Nottinghamshire, England on August 1, 1988. He made his professional debut at the age of 23 years on October 28, 2011 against Chuck Jones. Wood defeated Jones via 6 round points decision, making a successful beginning of his pro career.

Wood became a world champion at the age of 32 after 26 professional fights. He challenged Xu Can for the WBA (Regular) featherweight title and stopped the champion in the final round of the 12-round fight, winning his first world title.

Wood's latest fight was a 7th-round TKO victory over Josh Warrington at age 35, on October 7, 2023, in which he successfully defended his WBA featherweight championship.
