Boxing Career
Alberto Puello was born in San Juan, Dominican Republic on July 22, 1994. He made his professional debut at the age of 20 years on March 7, 2015 against Marcos Hernandez. Puello defeated Hernandez via 1st round TKO, making a successful beginning of his pro career.
Puello became a world champion at the age of 28 after 20 professional fights. He challenged Batyr Akhmedov for the vacant WBA super-lightweight title and defeated Akhmedov via 12-round split decision, winning his first world title.
He then went on to successfully win the WBC super-lightweight world title as well.
Puello's latest fight was a split decision victory over Sandor Martin at age 30, on March 1, 2025, in which he successfully defended his WBC super-lightweight championship.
