Bruno Girard's Boxing Career

Bruno Girard was born in Blois, France on November 25, 1970. He made his professional debut at the age of 20 years on October 18, 1991 against Milko Stoikov. Girard defeated Stoikov via 6 round points decision, making a successful beginning of his pro career.

Girard got his first shot at a world title at the age of 29 after 39 professional fights. On December 11, 1999 Girard challenged Byron Mitchell's WBA super-middleweight title but lost via 12-round split decision.

In his next fight, he got another shot at the super-middleweight WBA title. This time he defeated Mitchell via 12-round split decision, winning his first world title.

He then went on to successfully win the light-heavyweight (WBA) titles also to become a two-division world champion.
