Emmanuel Lucero was born in Mexico City, Distrito Federal, Mexico on November 3, 1978. He made his professional debut at the age of 19 years on August 22, 1998 against Philippe Gandus. Lucero defeated Gandus via 2nd round TKO, making a successful beginning of his pro career.
Lucero got his first shot at a world title at the age of 24 after 22 professional fights. On July 26, 2003 Lucero challenged Manny Pacquiao's IBF super-bantamweight title but lost via 3rd round TKO. Lucero never got a world-title shot again.
Lucero's last fight was a 5th-round TKO loss to Rod Salka at age 34, on February 2, 2013.
