Tommy Morrison was born in Gravette, Arkansas on January 2, 1969. He made his professional debut at the age of 19 years on November 10, 1988 against William Muhammad. Morrison defeated Muhammad via 1st round TKO, making a successful beginning of his pro career.
Morrison got his first shot at a world title at the age of 22 after 28 professional fights. On October 18, 1991 Morrison challenged Ray Mercer's WBO heavyweight title but lost via 5th round TKO.
He became a world champion on June 7, 1993 at the age of 24 years, after by defeating George Foreman, the then-reining WBO heavyweight champion, via 12-round unanimous decision. This was his 38th fight as a professional.
Morrison's last fight was a 3rd-round TKO victory over Matt Weishaar at age 39, on February 9, 2008.
