Boxing Career
Mario Barrios was born in San Antonio, Texas, U.S. on May 18, 1995. He made his professional debut at the age of 18 years on November 11, 2013 against Rigoberto Moreno. Barrios defeated Moreno via 1st round TKO, making a successful beginning of his pro career.
Barrios became a world champion at the age of 24 after 24 professional fights. He challenged Batyr Akhmedov for the vacant WBA (Regular) super-lightweight title and defeated Akhmedov via 12-round unanimous decision, winning his first world title.
He then went on to successfully win the welterweight (WBC) titles also to become a two-division world champion.
Barrios' latest fight was against Abel Ramos on November 15, 2024, which ended in a split decision draw.
