Rolando Romero was born in Las Vegas, Nevada, U.S. on October 14, 1995. He made his professional debut at the age of 21 years on December 2, 2016 against David Courtney. Romero defeated Courtney via 1st round TKO, making a successful beginning of his pro career.
Romero got his first shot at a world title at the age of 26 after 14 professional fights. On May 28, 2022 Romero challenged Gervonta Davis' WBA (Regular) lightweight title but lost via 6th round KO.
In his next fight, he got another shot at the lightweight WBA title — this time against Ismael Barroso. He defeated Barroso via 6th round KO, winning his first world title.
