Cordova came in to the fight on a 15-fight win streak with a 63% KO rate, and was fighting after a gap of 11 months and 24 days. Martinez was on a 2-fight win streak with a 68% KO rate, and fighting after a layoff of 10 months and 24 days.
Julio Cesar Martinez defeated Angelino Cordova via majority decision and successfully defended his WBC flyweight title. Martinez improves his record to 21-2, while Cordova adds a loss to his record at 18-1-1.
